Ever wonder which grinder or which type of grinder would make for a good alternative to the Magic Flight Finishing Grinder? Something that would produce that same finely ground end result? There’s an easy answer that you might not be aware of and the answer is a coffee grinder. Your average electric coffee grinder should do the trick, but be careful not to turn your blend into a fine powder or dust because if you leave it in there too long, it’ll get ground down so fine you’ll wish you hadn’t. In order to avoid this undesirable outcome, activate the grinder in short intervals, a second or so at a time. Check it after each time you do it and from there, gauge how quickly it’s grinding your blend. Using this method of short intervals and checking it after each grind will increase your control over the outcome. We tend to hit it quick one to three times, by which point it’s usually where we want it to be.

To be more specific, what we’re talking about is your average cheap electric coffee grinder. It should be activated with the press of a single button and ideally, have a transparent top that allows you to see how finely ground your blend is. If this is the case, you’ll have a lot of control over your grind because you’ll be able to see your blend the entire time. You can find grinders like this on Amazon.com or at the websites of any number of online retailers of kitchen appliances. There are also hand crank coffee mills that work just the same, but these take more effort than the electric ones. If you’re really afraid of over-grinding your blend, you can always go this route. But if you’re just thinking about going with a hand crank because it’s cheaper, think again, they’re priced almost the same so you’re not going to save much, especially given that electric coffee grinders are already relatively inexpensive.

Of course, for those of you who already have access to a coffee grinder, there’s no need to concern yourselves with finding a Magic Flight Finishing Grinder alternative because you already have one.
