Vaper Empire has really stepped up to the plate and hit the ball out of the park with their new pod vape system, the Viggo Series. Designed to work with its own proprietary vape pods, the Viggo takes vaping with nicotine and simplifies it while offering a feature that many e-cigs lack: variable voltage. With it, vapers can take a little more control over their vaping experience with the mere push of a button. While the Viggo is unquestionably stylish, easy to use, and compact, the real question is just how well does it actually work? The answer to this question and many others can be found in this in-depth Viggo Series vape review. So if you’re interested in learning the truth about this pod system, continue reading this review.

SPEED REVIEW (SUMMARY)

This is one seriously impressive pod system. The vape is expertly crafted, the pods intelligently pair nic salts with a ceramic coil, and the battery is strong enough to sustain regular usage throughout the day without needing to be recharged halfway through. The whole device with pod attached is small enough to fit into a shallow pocket and the three voltage settings provide a level of flexibility that's not always seen in pod devices. The Viggo Series is everything you want in a pod vape and the pods that it uses are among the best we have ever used. Add to this some of the most magnificent e-liquid that we've ever vaped and you can see why we've quickly fallen in love with this vape. We highly recommend it to anyone that's in need of a reliable e-cig that's easy to use and capable of delivering incredibly tasty vapor on demand.

Vape Pods

Like many popular pod systems such as Juul, Vaper Empire’s Viggo works with its own proprietary pods. They’re prefilled with Vaper Empire e-liquid and they don’t come apart so you can’t refill them. This has its pros and cons. One upside that we find incredibly important is that they’re not prone to leak e-liquid while they’re in use. This is a common issue and one that might actually be more common with the refillable pods.

Every pod contains a total of 1.8ml of e-liquid, which is a good deal because you probably only need one pod to make it through a day or two. Super heavy vapers might actually blow through a pod in a day or less but that’s definitely not going to be the case for most vapers.

One of the really nice aspects of the pods is the way they’re shaped. The mouthpiece on them fits the contours of your lips, which lets it rest gently in your mouth while you’re vaping.

Another aspect of the pods that we like is the way that they’re packaged. Packaging normally isn’t a topic we discuss in any real detail as it seems rather trivial at times but when it comes to these pods it’s actually worth noting. Each pod is in its own little package and when you open it up and take the pod out you find that it’s sealed on both sides with silicone plugs. After you remove both pieces of silicone, there’s still more protection in the form of a sticky strip of film or sticker on the bottom. Remove the film and it’s finally ready to be used. What’s really nice about this setup is that it obviously helps ensure no e-liquid escapes and allows you to put the silicone plugs back on if you want to save a pod for later. This is particularly helpful if you feel like switching to a different flavor but aren’t quite done with the pod you were working on.

Vaper Empire sells the pods for the Viggo in packs that come with three pods. Those who want to save money can buy pod kits that come with either 8 packs or 4 packs. The savings are noticeable given that the 4 pack costs the same as buying 3 individual packs so you get a free pack and the 8 pack costs the same as buying 6 individual packs so you get a couple of packs for free.

The pods use a ceramic coil that operates at 1.2ohm. The upside here is that ceramic coils are ideal for vaping nicotine salts and they’re also what you want to use if flavor is important to you, which it probably is. They also last a lot longer than standard coils.

E-Liquid

It’s the juice that makes it — this is especially true with pod systems that use prefilled disposable pods. The upside here is that the e-liquid that these pods use is exceptionally good. The e-liquid is made using EU standards, which means it’s produced to TPD standards that go a long way when it comes to ensuring the quality of the product. In this case, the e-liquid is not only well made but it’s also very good. The taste is stellar and the vapor feels right. Add the nic salts to the equation and the throat hit is pleasant while being far from over the top. Whether or not you love the juice really depends on whether you find a flavor that you like. This really should not be a problem given how many different flavors there are:

  • Berry Crush – This is an iced flavor that combines berries with menthol to create an iced berry e-liquid that tastes as good as it sounds.
  • Watermelon Mints – Wow. You won’t even believe how good this iced watermelon actually is until you try it. It’s hard to describe just how wonderful it is. In short, it’s more ice than watermelon but that’s definitely a plus if you like a strong menthol e-liquid. We do. It’s great.
  • Flat White Coffee – Steamed milk and espresso is the idea here and they really hit the nail on the head with this flavor because it tastes exactly like a flat white. Coffee aficionados: we dare you to contradict us. Try it. It’s amazing.
  • Caramel Tobacco – Not being huge fans of tobacco flavored vaping products, we were a little hesitant to try this flavor but we’re glad we did because it’s actually a really tasty tobacco e-liquid. Even if you’re not a big fan of tobacco vape juice, this one is actually worth trying. Who knows, you might actually like it.
  • Creamy Custard – This is a dessert e-liquid and it’s not exactly what we’re into but there are surely some of you out there that love this sort of thing. It tastes like custard, rich and creamy but without the calories. Something to enjoy if you’re a fan of vaping your dessert.
  • Menthol – Cool but not gross. We’ve had the unfortunate experience of tasting some of what are probably the worst menthol e-liquids out there and so we know what bad menthol tastes like and this is not it. This is good menthol, very good. For a minty fresh blast of cool vapor, this is the flavor you want.
  • Tobacco – The standard tobacco flavor is not one that we have tried. We didn’t bother with this one because it’s just not one of the flavors of e-liquid that we’re interested in. We did give the caramel version a whirl though and it was definitely worth it. Perhaps this one is too?
  • Blueberry – Sweet, sweet blueberry vape juice. That’s what this is. There’s an almost candy-esque element to it, making it sweeter than the fruit. It’s weird but in a good way. Pretty much the opposite of the apple we’ll tell you about next.
  • Apple – One of the best flavors, hands down. It’s not very sweet, although it is a little. It’s a tart apple that’s calm and pleasant. Something to vape all day, for sure.
  • Whole Leaf Tobacco – This is yet another flavor we haven’t actually tried because we’re just not into the whole tobacco e-liquid thing. We try them here and there but when given the opportunity we tend to go with something else. Anything else. We suspect there’s something to it though if you happen to like vaping tobacco e-liquid. Probably worth giving it a shot if that’s your thing because the other flavors that we have tried are pretty much fantastic.

Heat Up Time

This is instant heating at its finest. You don’t even have to push a button to get it going. All you do with the Viggo is put it to your mouth and inhale. The vape does the rest and it does it fast, so fast you won’t even realize there was a delay before the vapor started pouring out. For vapers who only use dry herb vaporizers and never touch e-cigs, this might sound more impressive than it really is. The reality is that e-cigs generally heat up in a flash, providing vapor on-demand without the wait time typically seen in dry herb vaporizers.

Battery Life

The average e-cig user will probably be pretty impressed with the battery life of the Viggo, which should last for more than a day. We found that the 400mAh battery lasts for a little less than a day under heavy use. That’s really not bad at all. It still lasts longer than a lot of the other pod vapes so there’s no failure there. When the battery does get low, it’s easy and fast to recharge. Takes around one hour to go from a drained battery to one that’s topped off and ready to go.

The recharge isn’t just fast, it’s also really easy. This is about what you should expect these days with USB charging being the standard. Plug it in, charge it up, and then vape it up. That’s how it works.

On the technical side, it uses a USB-C charger that goes from USB-C to USB. You can use its USB cord with the wall charger that it comes with or you can plug the USB cable into something else, like a laptop. For this reason, you should rarely have any issue finding somewhere to charge it so long as you have the cord and wall adapter handy.

The battery has three voltage settings that are programmed into it and you can rotate through them by clicking the button on the vape three times in a row. When you do this, you will see the light on the button flash and the color that you see tells you which of the three settings you just switched to. If you’re having trouble changing the voltage, just remember that you have to press the button three times quickly. If you take too much time between clicks it won’t register so just be sure to do it somewhat fast.

The three voltage settings and their corresponding light colors are:

  • Red (lowest) – 3.0V
  • Blue (mid) – 3.4V
  • Red (highest) – 3.8V

We prefer to use the low setting, which is the red light that corresponds with 3.0 volts. This works well for us but you might want to cycle through them a bit to find out which one you like.

You should get about 300 charges out of the battery before it needs to be replaced, according to the manufacturer. We haven’t had one die on us yet and we definitely haven’t been keeping track of how many recharges we’ve gone through so we really can’t say whether that number is actually accurate. Still, it’s lasted for months without any issues so we’re pleased given the cost.

Weight & Size

The Viggo measures roughly 3.1 inches in length, which is short enough for just about any pocket. It’s actually small enough that you can carry two of them at a time without feeling like your pockets are bogged down. As for weight, we’re not entirely sure what it weighs because we haven’t weighed it ourselves but it seems to weigh very little. It’s not light as a feather but it’s not far off either. If you’re trying to avoid having a brick bouncing around in your pocket, don’t worry about it because this is definitely a lightweight and compact vape.

Problems

Viggo problems? There really aren’t any. We’ve never seen a pod that leaked e-liquid straight into the mouth. We’ve never had any problems with the battery. Not a single pod has been dead on arrival. There’s really nothing to complain about, however, if we did have one complaint it would be the lack of nicotine strengths that the pods come in. A lot of vape pods and disposable e-cigs only come in one strength so having two, which is what the Viggo has, is better than just one. Still, it might be nice to have more strengths. Other than that, there’s nothing that we can really complain about and there aren’t any problems, at least not any problems that we have run into.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Because this pod vape uses disposable pods, the upkeep is minimal. You will never have to replace a coil, open a pod, or replace the wick. All you really do is attach a pod and use it then replace it when the e-liquid in it runs out. Beyond that, you’re basically just keeping the battery charged.

As for cleaning, you may want to occasionally wipe inside the area where the pod connects to the battery using a q-tip or something similar. This isn’t necessary but there is sometimes visible residue in that area, which is common with pod systems and other types of vapes.

To keep the vape looking new, you may also want to wipe it down here and there. A moist cloth or paper towel will do the trick, just be sure not to actually get the battery wet. A little bit of residual water from the moist cloth on the outside of the battery is not a big deal, but you still want to be sure to wipe it away with a dry cloth right after. If you’re unsure of what we mean by moist, just stay away from water entirely and use a dry cloth to wipe down the vape. A microfiber cleaning cloth definitely does the trick so if you have one that you use to clean your glasses or screens then you already have what you need to keep the battery looking new. If you do opt for a moist cloth, be sure it’s only lightly moistened and not super damp or wet because water and electronics definitely do not mix.

To be clear, cleaning really isn’t necessary.

Usage Tips

Here are some tips for using the Viggo Series:

  • Carry a spare battery with you if you vape often enough that a fully charged battery might not last you the entire day. If you do this, you shouldn’t have any interruptions because two batteries are more than enough even if you vape frequently.
  • Keep the charger handy in case you need a quick charge throughout the day. You may want to buy an extra charger to leave in your car so you can have one at home and another in the car for when you’re out and need to recharge.
  • Try cycling through the three different voltage settings when you first get the vape to see which setting you like best. You might not ever change it again once you’ve found your preferred setting.
  • Buy the Deluxe kit that Vaper Empire sells because it comes with everything and then some.
  • Be sure to try all of the different pod flavors out right when you get started so that you know what you like and which ones to buy in the future. If you buy one of the value packs like the one that comes with 8 packs of pods you can actually choose a different flavor for each pack so you get a chance to try out 8 different flavors right off the bat and you save some money buy buying them in bulk.
  • Carry a spare pod with you so that you have one to pop in if the one you’re using runs out.
  • Place your vape next to your keys, wallet, and whatever else you take with you when you go out so that you don’t forget to bring it with you when you head out.

Accessories

There are some different accessories that you can get for the Viggo, all of which actually come with the Deluxe version if you opt for it. The accessories include a leather case, which is really well made and nice for storing your battery as it does a good job of protecting it while you’re not using it. There’s also a USB wall adapter and a USB-C power cable.

Warranty

Any good vape is covered by a warranty. If there’s no warranty, you’re probably buying trash. The Viggo comes with a 90-day limited device warranty that protects against manufacturing defects, which is a pretty standard warranty for vaping devices. We have not had to use the warranty protection because our Viggo has held up for months without any issues but if you do happen to need it, it’s there.

Vapor Quality

This is the area where this vape really shines. The vapor is really good. It’s smooth with a little bit of a throat hit on the lowest voltage. Push that voltage up and attach one of the iced flavors or the menthol and the throat hit becomes a lot more noticeable. But even with an iced flavor and the voltage up, it’s not harsh, which is nice. You probably shouldn’t expect to be winning any cloud-chasing competitions with this vape but you can definitely count on it to deliver some really nice vapor with some good volume to it.

As for flavor, that’s one area where we have been thoroughly impressed. The e-liquid that Vaper Empire uses to make the pods is just stellar. Some of the flavors are so good we just want to vape them all day. Once you find some flavors that you like, you’re really going to enjoy using this vape.

Final Thoughts

We love this vape. It’s easy to use, its pods don’t seem to leak, and the flavors of e-juice that its pods come in are superb. The Viggo is easily one of the best pod vapes on the market that uses disposable pods. Our only complaint? The limited number of nicotine strengths that are currently available. At this time, its pods can only be purchased in 0% and 3% strengths. While these two options are certainly enough to satisfy most users, it would be nice if there were more strengths to choose from. If you can get beyond the lack of nicotine strength options, you will be hard-pressed to find a reason not to love this vape and all of the amazing flavors that its pods come in. It’s an absolutely wonderful system for vaping nic salts. If you want a compact pod vape that hits as well as it looks and tastes as good as it gets, the Viggo is what’s up. This is a premium quality e-cigarette and it’s one that we recommend to anyone that’s searching for a good e-cig to use. You can buy it from this online vape shop if you’re interested in picking one up for yourself. We highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed. This is one impressive vape.
