Pax 3 is a portable conduction vaporizer that you can hold and operate with just one hand. It’s designed to work with dried blends and thanks to its concentrate insert, it can also handle a wide variety of extracts/concentrates. In essence, what it offers is a conveniently compact and portable means by which one can vaporize on the go. With it, you can vape your extracts and dried blends wherever you are, so long as it’s appropriate. Not sure what a vaporizer is used for? Read this.

This version, number three, is the third in the line of Pax vaporizers. The company who makes them, Pax Labs, was known as Ploom at the time it released its first Pax vaporizer, which some now refer to as the Pax 1 vaporizer in light of its successors.

After the first “Pax” was released, the company followed its success up with a redesigned version boasting a similarly enticing appearance as the first. This one, the Pax 2, set the stage for what we now have today. This latest version of the popular line of portable vaporizers is one of our highest rated portable vaporizers to date. The reason? You’ll have to read our Pax 3 vaporizer review to find out.

Options & Features

For a compact portable that’s as small as this one is, there sure are a lot of features crammed into a small space. The new Pax offers a multitude of settings, features, and options, which include a Bluetooth connected app, multiple temperature settings, haptic feedback, games, and more. Touching on the app first, the app allows you to connect your phone to your vape. You can also use a tablet or whatever else you might have that can run the app. With the app, you gain access to a range of settings, much of which you can already access directly through the vape without the need for the app, although in some cases it is easier to use the app. But there are features that are only accessible through the app like the lock, which allows you to lock and unlock the vape from your phone and the ability to set the vape to any temperature within its available range. So you could see where the app comes in really handy, particularly with that last part – setting a custom vaping temperature.

The custom temp on the new Pax is what is known as the fifth temperature setting as there are four settings hard-programmed into the device that can’t be altered. However, with the app, you can select any temperature between 360 and 420 degrees Fahrenheit to vape with. This makes its range quite wide and more than adequate for most blend types, even concentrates.

Perhaps the best part about the heating system, beyond its various modes which we’ll discuss next, is its ability to quickly reach vaping temperatures. In just a matter of seconds, it can heat all the way up to its highest temperature setting (420°F), which is impressive to say the least. This means no waiting around for minutes while your vape heats up. Instead, it’s boom, bam, you’re done.

The modes adjust various aspects of the vape, but primarily add another layer of control to the heat itself. In “Flavor” mode, the oven temp jumps five degrees anytime the vape determines its in use, which it’s able to do thanks to the haptic feedback technology incorporated into it. And when it cools down, it cools down more quickly than it does when it’s operating in “Standard” mode. This is intended to preserve the flavor profile of the blend, allowing for more tasty hits before the blend is spent. Mind you, just as a note, your blend may very not be spent when you think it is, which is one of the reasons we strongly suggest you turn your vape trash into extract using an extraction process that can be mostly automated by contraptions like the Magical Butter Machine. Back to the modes, there’s even a “Stealth” mode in which the vape’s lights dim and the oven is more aggressively cooled between puffs in order to minimize the smell. There are also “Efficiency” and “Boost” modes to choose from, both of which you can probably guess the purpose of based on their name.

Like many modern portables, Pax 3 runs on battery power. It’s powered by an internal lithium-ion battery. While the old version of the vaporizer, the Pax 2, is powered by a 3000 mAh battery, this new version runs on a 3500 mAh battery, which, if you didn’t realize, is that much more powerful. Translating this into terms you probably care more to read, this equates to roughly one and a half hours of vape time between recharges. And did we mention, it’s a rechargeable 18650 lithium-ion battery? The one thing we didn’t mention is the fact that it’s not designed to be replaced by the user. We want to make note of this given our appreciation for vape designs in which the battery is designed to be quickly replaced by the user as this allows for a drained battery to be quickly swapped out for a fully charged one.

While there are plenty more features to discuss with this vape, we’d prefer now to talk about the color choices currently available. As was the case with the original Pax, more color options may be made available at a later date so if you don’t see one that catches your eye quite yet, you may want to wait around to see if they come up with one that really floats your boat. But for now, the options available include:

  • Rose Gold
  • Black
  • Gold
  • Silver

Price

At the time we wrote this, the Pax 3 vaporizer was being sold for $274.99 on the manufacturer’s website. You can check the price here.

Dimensions

The Pax 3’s dimensions and weight is just a part of the reason why we’re fans, but an important part nonetheless. The reason for this is due to the fact that a portable vaporizer that you’re going to carry around with you wherever you go, just like your cell phone, needs to be lightweight and compact and that’s exactly what the new Pax is. It weighs roughly 93 grams and measures just 3.87 inches tall, 1.2 inches wide, and less than an inch deep. If you’re having trouble conceptualizing that, let’s just say that it’s small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket and light enough that you’ll never think twice about the weight. That’s not to say that it feels cheap because it actually feels surprisingly solid given how small it is and how little it weighs.

Where To Buy

If you’re wondering where you can buy the Pax 3, you can pick one up from this online store. They’re an authorized retailer of Pax vaporizers so you can rest assured that they’re authentic and not some cheap knockoffs, which is a real thing (people counterfeiting Pax vaporizers). That way, your new Pax will be covered by the manufacturer’s 10-year limited warranty in case anything goes wrong, which hopefully nothing does. But if you need it, it’s there and that’s what’s important.
